College Application Essay Coaching

What to Expect

To Find Your Voice

I once attended a talk with a Stanford admissions counselor who explained that the essay is the piece of the admissions puzzle where students can truly shine, yet it’s often left to the last minute. The essay is the only place where students can speak for themselves with a distinct voice, allowing counselors to hear the individual person behind the application.

To Be Challenged

With care, I hope to push each senior to reach within themselves and write with authenticity & clarity. The essay word count is limited for a reason: to challenge students to provide a vivid picture of their individuality within a few paragraphs. This means avoiding all clichés, generalities, & writing with heart.

To Receive my Enthusiastic Support

Coaching seniors through the college essay writing process has been one of the highlights of my career, as it offers the opportunity to look back at their growth while dreaming for the future. When approached with hopeful determination, writing the college essay can provide a meaningful experience for seniors.

Ms. Birch is one of the kindest people I know. She helped me through the long and arduous college application process, with essay idea generation, feedback, and revision. This support led me to be accepted by Purdue, Richmond University, and others.

Calli took my daughter’s personal statement to the next level. She provided great insight and guidance that I know will shine in the final product. I’m so grateful for her perspective and encouragement. My daughter feels much more prepared to complete a strong college application.
