I’m passionate about helping students grow & find their voice.
Hi, I’m Calli Birch.
I’m so glad you’re here. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I find joy in discovering the beauty & truth hidden within a really good story. I love the challenge of digging for such treasure in literature—and even more, I love leading novice explorers on their own literary adventures. Here are a few things you might want to know about me:
I’ve taught English Literature & Writing in London, England (in a British school), Texas, and Arkansas.
I have a BA in English from Abilene Christian University & MA in Humanities (with emphasis in Literature) from University of Texas at Dallas.
Of my 12 years in the traditional classroom, 2 were in public schools & 10 were in private independent (preparatory) schools.
While I love the classroom, some of my favorite teaching moments were during the 6 years I home educated my daughters when they were young.
After experiencing the beauty & limitations (the both/and) of various educational models, I have come to believe that there is no “one size fits all” for how children learn and thrive. Most importantly, parents should consider their individual child & the specific environment in which they are entrusting their education.
